My name is Aaron, and I am a freelance concept designer in
the film, commercial, and theme park industry. I learned my trade from Art
Center College of Design.
I love what I
do. I feel very fortunate to be doing what I love and get pay to do it. My path to be a concept artist was not a
direct path.
To be honest, I didn’t even
know concept design was a career option until I got into college. It was then, at a book store, I saw a Art of
Starwar book and by the time I closed that book, I have found a new career
path: Concept Art. It was all Doug
Chiang’s fault!
When I started looking on the web for answers as to where to
start and what to do. I found a couple of concept artists who were working in
the film industry and learned that they went to Art Center. So naturally I
followed that same path. I m very glad I
made that choice.
The goal of this blog is to be a resource for anyone who is
interested to learn how to get started on the path to become a concept artist. If I can travel back in time to give a 16 year
old version of me advice on how to be a concept artist, I would tell him to
follow the tips and suggestions on this blog and never quite.
Feel free to contact me directly if you have specific
questions that you would like me to address.
