What is momentum? Ever had a day that feels like nothing can
go wrong
because
you feel this incredible positive energy. Everything you do seem
to
go perfect. Or those days that nothing appear to go right and thing just keep
getting worst. That energy is momentum and it can go either ways.
Positive momentum leads to more positive energy and negative

momentum leads to negative energy.
In
life you can be in perpetual motion going towards an upward steady climb or
spiraling
fall. Or you can stay in a comfort zone all your life and not go
anywhere.
The best way to avoid negative momentum is by not allowing
negative
energy in your life to begin with.
But
no matter which direction you head towards, you are the driver. If you
are
going up, you also can go down. If you are at the bottom, you can
shift
gear and go the opposite way. In this post, we explore ways to build
positive
momentum and learn how to harness power to create rapid
progress.
So
momentum can be energy, power, or fuel to drive you forward… and
understanding
how to create it can be a powerful tool to speed up your
progress
exponentially. I don’t believe in overnight success, but I do believe
there are
ways to upgrade your skill faster than others. Your understanding
of
momentum is one of those tricks that will allow you to benefit
from its'
compound effect.
compound effect.
To
build momentum…..you need to...
Create a Plan of attack- Because you are going to war, and the
enemy
is yourself. You should set and develop a daily routine that will
help
you get closer inch by inch to your goal. Activities in your routine
should
include the following:
-
make Time to work on your craft and improve your skills (draw, paint, learn new programs... )
- define your weaknesses and plan how you will
turn those weaknesses into
strengths
-
set out time to learn new things and fill your mind with interesting stuff
- make time to exercise to take care
of your bio vehicle aka, your body
Increase Initial Intensity- There are many ways to build momentum.
One way is to start out slowly and gradually build up speed, but that
One way is to start out slowly and gradually build up speed, but that
doesn’t work for me. The
best way I discover is to get crazy and intense in
the beginning. For instance, for a rocket to break away earth’s gravity, it need to blast
the beginning. For instance, for a rocket to break away earth’s gravity, it need to blast
off from the ground before it can steadily coast upward, or a plane that is heading
full throttle on the tarmac before it can lift off. Or imagine snowboarding, the best way to

gain
speed is to go up high to the peak and then come down.
So
what I mean is that, to break away of your current habits, you need a
massive
jolt
that will send your mind and body into the direction to
your
path of success. To do that, you need to get excited, motivated and
plan
a rigid routine and challenge yourself to stick with your plan.
Be consistent- Once you have gotten all your mental and physical gears moving
nicely
at a good pace, the worst thing you can do is to stop for a long
period..or
take
a long vacation… because that defeats the purpose of the idea of momentum.
Like the race between the turtle and the fox..the turtle is always the winner.
Even
though, the turtle is slower than the fox, the turtle is more
consistent with his pace.
In
contrast the fox is very fast, but take a lot of long breaks in between.
Your career as a concept artist is a progressive one, where you never stop learning
because
new tools and demands continue to change. It’s not a race; it’s a marathon.
Shake up your routine- Once you have your momentum going toward success,
It’s
also to critical to keep in mind not to get too comfortable. You may think
you
are coasting, so you let go the pedal a bit here and there.
But complacency is very deceptive and it can rob your motivation and energy that
propel you forward in the first place.
But complacency is very deceptive and it can rob your motivation and energy that
propel you forward in the first place.
Once in a while, you need to shake things up and get outside your
comfort
zone and doing something different. Do something challenging, learn
something
new, shuffle up your routine. The human mind and body are very efficient
at
adapting to new challenging and routine. You have to keep challenging
yourself
and
trick your mind and get it outside your comfort zone in order to create growth.
Remember,
you are the driver of your life.
